You lost the war and signed a treaty (treaty of Vienna I think) which seeded Gibraltar to the British. We invented then the War of "guerrillas"also without any help. The English would come later and would stay mainly in Portugal. It is the spanish people who firstly Defeated Napoleon, not any allies. And Spain was obliged by force to allow the USE and the PROPERTY of the rock and the castle (present Gibraltar is much bigger as the british would later steal more and more land). If the people on the rock were Spanish people held on British property against their will I would agree that it should go back to Spain. And according to the treaty the population of Gibraltar has not a right at all to decide. In fact it would be illegal according to Utrech. jesbelroj ::: Favorites In fact the gibraltarn population is not spanish as the ancient population of Gib. fleed away in XVII century as british law was stablished on the rock against the treaty of Utrech. Don,t forget that for centuries spanish people were not allowed to settle in gibraltar which goes against human rights. Unfortunately that´s not an example of tolerance. Spain has a right to use the rock as soon as it stop being british.
