My children are addicted to your song about Sparta. Your cat and your music pleases them much. We made our get well video using a photo of one of our kitties...because we thought Peanut and Sparta had something in common.

Cory, just so you know, sick kitties should NOT receive any vaccinations (you mentioned vaccinating in yesterdays video) until their health issue is resolved. I'm concerned about the fact that he has to go back. Hope it's not too serious. Check your private messages.

Very good point, but I'm sure that the vet will keep that in mind.

Sadly, a large number of vets *don't* keep that in mind. I often hear stories about sick cats that have been vaxed "since they are there anyway."

One example is a clinic (part of a chain within a certain pet supply store that is notorious for pushing unecessary vaccinations)that gave 5 separate vax to a kitty all at once, nearly killing him, then charged a fortune to "diagnose" and treat what they had caused! There is one decent vet for every 50-100 that even has the first clue about cats. I know this as I'm in the field of cat health/behavior and often am called in to help when vets have screwed up.

Wow. I think its common sense not to vaccinate when the patient is already ill. When choosing a vet, the cheapest one isn't necassarily the best bet, nor is the most expensive. Don't look at the dollar amount when choosing one so much as you look at their compassion for animals. Treat it like picking a doctor for your own children. If you're going to have a pet, you should care for it as a member of the family. Just my two cents.

I couldn't agree more! I chose my vet with a specific, quite extensive criteria in mind. He does NOT declaw and does not force vaccines. He also promotes canned and raw food diets (he does not promote or prescribe dry food knowing it is extremely bad for cats) and will not use the crap prescription foods Hill's makes. :-) I love him!

I've heard very mixed reviews on cat food. And I find myself intrigued by your comments...so I'll ask for more info. I have had cats all my life and they've always been dry cat food kitties with soft food for treats. The vet claims hard food is better for the cats teeth. Why does your vet say canned is better?

The simple answer is that cats are carnivores and should be fed as such. They are not built to process grains and this illogical form of nutrition can and does cause a myriad of health problems. catinfo dot org and catnutrition dot org offer an excellent overview of what cats need for optimal health.

Also, the claim that dry food is better for teeth is a myth. Check out my website (listed in my profile) and you'll find an excellent article that addresses this subject in detail.
