Yes yes, it was very clever, but it sounded awful. I've heard him play that lick before, but in my opinion, he played this one too long.

Yeah, everytime i hear him play that lick it never seems to fit. It always just seems to clash. I wonder why he does it? Is it a bebop thing or a gypsy thing or just a Bireli thing?

that 4th lick it's just an effect right? some tension to resolve to something. he has d freedom to that. some people like it some not, bireli likes it. i think it's well played.

Check out some of Zappa's licks, they can be completely out of tune, off beat but still sound cool, it has to fit in the atmosphere and the right part of the composition though, I sometimes do it in jazz songs, just do a lot of chromatic movements, quite fun actually!
