Description: My 9 year old son asked me some very penetrating questions about war last night: "Exactly what happens in a war? Do soldiers get together on a big field?" Etc etc etc... That discussion brought this song to mind... I know it from Melanie Safka's wonderful version. One blue sky above us One ocean lapping all our shore One earth so green and round Who could ask for more And because I love you I'll give it one more try To show my rainbow race It's too soon to die. 1. Some folks want to be like an ostrich, Bury their heads in the sand. Some hope that plastic dreams Can unclench all those greedy hands. Some hope to take the easy way: Poisons, bombs. They think we need 'em. Don't you know you can't kill all the unbelievers? There's no shortcut to freedom. (Repeat chorus) 2. Go tell, go tell all the little children. Tell all the mothers and fathers too. Now's our last chance to learn to share What's been given to me and you. |

| joadha ::: Favorites 2007-10-14 04:42:45 Great. Wasn't familiar with the song, but you're such a good performer that I got right into it. Feature material, in my opinion. __________________________________________________ | |
| tommiji ::: Favorites 2007-10-13 18:31:40 Great song, yep! Too bad the world's so screwy and then you get to try and explain the whole mess to kids. *sighs* I'm sure Gabe knows what a great Dad he's got (if he don't I'll tell him myself!). ;-) __________________________________________________ | |
